Dresden: Four-star hotel planned at the Zwinger
The Lindner Group shall develop a four-star-superior hotel for €26.5mn near Dresden's baroque landmark Zwinger in the area of the earlier Herzogingarten (“Duchess Garden“). The site that the Lindner Group shall develop is a 0.4 hectare piece of fallow land in a 1A location. Including seven suites, 199 rooms are planned for the new hotel. The opening shall be in 2009. The building will be constructed by GBI Berlin in cooperation with Frankonia, a GBI subsidiary. The city council has already approved the hotel's construction.
Dresden's hotel market belongs to the most exciting locations in the federal territory, said Reiner Nittka, managing director of hotel development specialist GBI Berlin. Average room occupancy rate in 2006 was at around 70%, which is over 10 million guests and 3.5 million registered overnight stays.
